Dermot has a live Saturday Session from Turin Brakes, who are the English duo Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian. He also features the latest Radio 2 Recommends artiste, Rox. Turin Brake's Olly and Gale are childhood friends, who cite musical influences ranging from Miles Davis to Fugazi. Though they shy away from genre labels, at a push, they would describe their music as "folk tinged indie rock." In September 2009 they released Bottled at Source, a double album featuring all the hits from the early years, unreleased tracks and b-sides, which marked the tenth anniversary of their debut single. Rox, aka Roxanne Tataei, is a 21-year old half Jamaican and half Iranian singer-songwriter who has made the 15-strong longlist for the BBC's Sound Of 2010. She is signed to Rough Trade records, who describe her as "a singer who writes her songs like she writes her diary, has an obsession with harmony, Frida Kahlo, Mahalia Jackson, love, tragedy and all that other good stuff that makes art enjoyable.".
