Three-part documentary series telling the history of British social dancing in the 20th century, using rare archive film and interviews. In the 1900s, the huge new dancehalls made social dancing affordable for British working people for the first time. American jazz freed up our movements, as the Charleston made the nation go dance crazy. This was followed by ballroom dancing, the jitterbug and, in the countryside, the Folk Dance Society was founded to save the art of Morris dancing.
