Curiosity Killed The Cabaret

Some of the most interesting acts appearing at this year's Edinburgh Fringe will be from the cabaret world. Established cabaret singer Ali McGregor hosts a half hour show featuring the best acts appearing at this year's Fringe. Recorded at the Pleasance Beyond, Ali will be introducing: Oompah Brass, a 'rock'n'roll oompah band' displaying their 'expert horn blowage', who perform covers of pop classics. Frisky and Mannish, the celebrated musical comedy duo who've been described as 'the spirit of inventive, spangly silliness'. Fitzrovia Radio Hour, a group of amazing actors bringing alive the spirit of 50s radio drama ('lovingly recreated spoofs of fifties radio drama do not come better than this'), who'll be creating a new spiffing radio drama. Anil Desai, a comedian who'll be performing a vast array of impressions in a bewilderingly short space of time. Asher Treleavan, Australian comedian and oddball ('tantalising moments of scintilating genius'), who'll be performing a very alternative version of a literary classic. And host Ali McGregor will herself be demonstrating her amazing vocal talent and highly alternative cover versions. Simply the best cabaret performers at this year's Edinburgh Fringe, in one bite-sized chunk. Producer: Paul Russell An Open Mike production for BBC Radio 4.
