Richard Strauss (1864-1949), 1946
After the war, Strauss faced de-Nazification - as someone who had held an administrative post in the Nazi administration, he had to face a tribunal, which would make a judgement on the extent of his guilt. The judgement finally came in 1948; while he was waiting, Strauss wrote some of his most popular music.
