Chris Hawkins presents documentaries, concerts and sessions from the BBC archives. Headlining tonight are word-of-mouth band The Duke Spirit live at The Summer Sundae in 2005. In session is Bally Sagoo, a British Asian musician and DJ who was born in Ranjit Nagar, Delhi, India, but grew up in Birmingham, England. Influenced by disco, rap and Motown music, he broke into music by revamping old Bollywood hits and fusing them with hip hop. He is widely credited as one of the original pioneers of what is now modern Indian music, and for triggering the explosion of modern Bhangra pop. His most famous work features prominently in Gurinder Chadha's film Bend It Like Beckham. He has also worked together with Amitabh Bachchan for a musical rendition of Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poetry and produced Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's album Magic Touch. Let's Wrestle are also in session, recorded for 6 Music in July 2009. The NME have described the London indie band as "a charming, funny and utterly real trio". They head for the States in April for a string of live dates.
