Children of Helen House - Series 1 - Revisited

Documentary about a centre which provides respite and end-of-life care for children with life-shortening conditions. Helen House has revolutionised the care of sick children around the world, offering support for those with life-limiting illnesses. At its heart is the philosophy of its founder Sister Frances Dominica - that a short life does not have to be an unhappy one. Following the success of the award-winning 2007 series The Children of Helen House, the BBC team returned for three months last summer to witness the new life-and-death issues faced by the Helen House families and staff. The film features Cat Lovell who at the age of 11 had a brain tumour removed, leaving her needing 24-hour care; but then, during a routine MRI scan, there appears to be evidence that the tumour has returned, throwing the family into an emotional roller coaster. 30-year-old Ingrid Warren used Helen House because of a chronic kidney condition. But now after a successful transplant, this has left her in need of counselling to cope with an unusual condition, a healthy future after a lifetime of illness. This poses a unique challenge for the Helen House team.
