Big Mac reflects on the events of the last few weeks, which led up to his arrest. He is locked in a police cell and starts to think about his budding friendship with Jessica, and the shame he faced when the pair were attacked at gunpoint. His thoughts then turn to his camaraderie with Neil, a former service man, whom he befriended and admired. Both relationships, however, are marred by the constant threat of violence on Farmead. Mac resolves to take a one-man stand against the gang culture, to try to make a better life for those living on the estate, and decides not to put up with being bullied any longer.
