Charismatic hard rock band The Wildhearts will be joining us this Friday. Originating from Newcastle, their blend of hard rock and melodic pop music has ensured that they have remained at the forefront of the British rock scene. Headed by controversial guitarist Ginger, (real name David Walls) the band has led a fairly chaotic life, blighted by splits, substance abuse and feuds with record companies. The roller coaster ride which is the life of The Wildhearts began in early 1990. Led by glam rock idol Ginger, sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lived in the heart of the band, and soon Ginger sacked everyone but guitarist Chris Jagdhar and assumed vocal duties himself. The band became very popular in the London club scene, where their intense rock 'n' roll lifestyle led them to sign a record contract with EastWest Records in 1991, with their debut album (Earth vs. The Wildhearts) following in 1993. The guys have played several tours, the most memorable of which was alongside The Manic Street Preachers. Although crude, over the top and eccentric, they continue to wow audiences with their intense energy and crazy stage antics. Announcing a split in 1997 they were again reunited in 2001. They'll be telling us about the return of The Wildhearts and about their plans for the autumn.
