Bob Harris Country - Dierks Bentley in session

Bob's session guest tonight is one of Country Music's most popular male vocalists Dierks Bentley. Since he first signed with Capitol records in 2003 Dierks Bentley has released five studio albums and had seven number one country singles, including 'What was I thinkin' and ' Free and Easy ( down the road I go)'. His latest release 'Up on the Ridge' moves Dierks away from country-pop, and instead celebrates his passion for bluegrass and acoustic music. The album features collaborations with Nickel Creek's Chris Thile, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Miranda Lambert and Kris Kristofferson, and also includes a new interpretation of U2's 'Pride (in the Name of Love). In a session recorded in Nashville in September Dierks talks to Bob about his early years playing the city's bars and honky-tonks, and the inspiration behind his love of bluegrass and traditional music. Accompanied by his band he performs two songs from the new album.
