Helen, Joel and Andy coordinate a fashion shoot, but will their photos prove good enough to appear in Vogue Bambini? Joel also interviews 11-year-old James on the show, who's a child model. If you want to have a go at becoming a child model, here are some pointers which we've put together with various model agencies. 1. First up, and most important: speak to your mum, dad or guardian and tell them you're interested in becoming a child model. You'll need their support if you want to do it, and they might be able to help you make your mind up to see if you’re really interested, and if you could have the time to commit to it. They will also help you avoid getting into problems. 2. Take a mixture of four or five clear head and full length pictures. These can be done by a normal camera - no professional pictures will need to be taken in order for you to be on the books of an agency, and they won’t be expecting you to be styled up with new clothes and hairstyle either. 3. Next step is getting your parent or guardian to contact a model agency with your pictures. You need to be very careful when choosing which agencies to contact, so getting an adult involved is essential. Together you’ll need to spend a lot of time looking for options on the internet. Never send any contact details or photos to anyone with making sure your parent or guardian makes contact with them first. 4. Try to avoid an agency that charges to be on the books with promises of a glittering career, or which states that you need very expensive pictures taken in order to get work. It’s also good to check whether they have an office you can visit, as your parent or guardian may want to check it out before you send any pictures. 5. Be prepared for any outcome. Modelling can be very competitive to get into, plus agencies and clients are often looking for something very specific, and sadly that might not be you. However, if an agency likes your photos, they may ask you in to meet them in person. 6. Even if an agency likes you, it’s important that you like them too. A good agency will be happy for you to ask lots of questions, and take a while to make up your mind. Never feel pressured – if they like you, they’ll wait!
