In Britain today clothes have never been cheaper and the public is consuming more and more food from across the world, but at what cost? Over the past two years the BAFTA-nominated series Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts and Blood, Sweat and Takeaways have seen 12 young consumers swap their luxury lives in the West to find out the truth about where everyday items consumers take for granted really come from. The most shocking and enlightening moments from Blood, Sweat and T- shirts and Blood, Sweat and Takeaways are revisited in Blood, Sweat and Me. The film hears from six of the young Brits and finds out how their experiences have changed their lives back in the UK. First the fashion lovers who swapped their lives on the high street for the backstreets of India to discover the dark truths behind the clothing industry speak. They stitched clothes in the back street factories, under back-breaking conditions, where they saw first-hand what it takes to make us look good. Then follow the stories of the food fanatics who went to south-east Asia to find out the human price of producing the things that we eat. They harvested and processed food products that Brits eat every day, going behind the scenes of the tuna, prawn and chicken industries. They endured 90 degree heat and struggled with the harsh realities of life for the workers. The extreme conditions affected them in different ways as they saw a side to the industries they never knew existed. Two years on, how have their lives changed back in the UK?
