BBC film crews follow the doctors, nurses and paramedics of Blackpool Victoria Hospital and North West Ambulance Service around the clock. Cardiologist Dr Grahame Goode surgically installs a miniature defibrillator that can jump start the heart of a 64-year-old, charge nurse Steve Taylor has a busy shift dealing with the fallout from Blackpool's manic night time scene and the air ambulance scrambles to deal with a 14-year-old who has suffered a horrific motorcross accident.
