Clare Teal presents the first part of the BBC Big Band in concert at the Town Hall Birmingham with the Nils Landgren Funk Unit. Together they perform music from Nils' latest album Funk for Life, in new arrangments written especially for this concert by conductor Jorg Keller. Funk for Life is inspired by the work that the Nils Landgren Funk Unit has undertaken in Kenya in partnership with Medicins Sans Frontieres. Swedish trombonist, singer and songwriter Nils Landgren is one of Europe's most in demand musicians. His album credits include Abba, The Crusaders, Wyclef Jean and Herbie Hancock and he has led the Funk Unit for the past 15 years.
