In the Beechgrove Garden, Jim is in the fruit house tending to the vines, planning for the bunches of grapes to come. He also takes a look at the fig which he hard pruned in the autumn - has it made it through the winter? Lesley is filling up the trials area with wigwams...well, she's making the garden team paint each bamboo cane of the wigwams (that support the plants) to match all the colours of her sweet pea trials. Lesley is trialling a range of sweet peas that claim to be especially fragrant. Carolyn and the garden team have taken on the revamp of what was called the Courtyard Garden at Beechgrove. They are developing this area into a relaxing haven. A garden room for those that don't want to move (house) but do want to improve and expand their living space into the garden. Carole visits Teasses Garden near Ceres in Fife. This is a huge garden of about 60 acres which has been developed by the present owner over the last 12 years, and in the spring time it is a mass of colour with erythroniums, cyclamens, narcissi, hellebores etc. There are numerous woodland walks on the estate, all under planted with swathes of spring colour, and head gardener Bob Billson has created approximately 30 huge urns and tubs full of layered bulbs to complete the sumptuous spring display.
