Beechgrove Garden - 2010 - Episode 19

It's all about propagation in this week's Beechgrove Garden. Carole has been trialling half-hardy perennials such as osteospermums and penstemons which have been giving us colour all over the summer. Now Jim, Carole and Lesley show us how to take cuttings of these to overwinter for next year. Many of us are gardening on a tight budget and hardy annuals can fill the garden with months of colour. Jim and Carole sing the praises of our hardy annual trial that costs less than 15 pounds to create. Sheila Milliken in Angus says her garden is a 'guddle'. George helps her solve this by showing her how to achieve year-round colour and texture with choice plants. Carole visits John and Isobel Macdonald in Uphall, who have over 120 hanging baskets and containers with more than 1,600 annual bedding plants in their small bungalow garden. During her visit the judges arrived to assess John and Isobel's garden for the 2010 West Lothian Best Gardens competition.
