Carole takes some stick from Jim and Lesley as she tries to bring them round to some artistic pruning. She practises on a plant in Carolyn's low maintenance garden, rather than her own. Jim is planting a new range of yellow tomatoes in the small greenhouses, while Lesley is taking a look at a new range of what she calls fast flowers. From seeds to flowers in six to eight weeks, the packets claim. Lesley will put them to the test. If it works, the cutting garden will be a riot of colour in a very few weeks. Jim visits lady Jane Hepburn in Ladyburn near Maybole, who is a rose fanatic and is bringing a stunning display of her roses to Gardening Scotland for the first time in 2009. The Scotch roses are what Jim is there to appreciate, and to see what she has planned for the show. Carole is back in Kingswells near Aberdeen, with the Stewart family. David and Anea with children Samantha and Sean want to grow their own fruit and veg but have absolutely no idea where to start. Carole is back with her beginners this week, and under her watchful eye the Stewart family start planting their plots.
