Two leading vocal and instrumental ensembles combine for a programme of music from the Renaissance to the present. Britten quoted Dowland's well-known lute song in his Lachrymae, which spotlights the viola, and former Radio 3 New Generation Artist Lawrence Power also appears in Israeli composer Betty Olivero's war-torn work that draws on Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, as well as the laments of mourning women.
