BBC PROMS 2010 Live from the Royal Albert Hall, London Presented by Petroc Trelawny Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the visiting Czech Philharmonic Orchestra frame their programme with Dvorak's ebullient, life-affirming Carnival Overture and his radiant 8th Symphony. In between, Martinu's 6th Symphony dances with Czech and Moravian folk melodies and rhythms; there's a detour to the Norwegian fjords for Grieg's Piano Concerto with Lars Vogt; and back to the Moravian Janacek whose gentle Ballad of Blanik was inspired by recent Czech independence and the new nation's legendary guardians.
