Presented by Sara Mohr-Pietsch, from the Royal Albert Hall, London. Leonard Slatkin conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert featuring diverse composers. With Chen Yi's Olympic Fire, commissioned to celebrate the 2008 opening of the Beijing Olympics and to look forward to the London Olympics four years later. This is followed by a piece by Rachmaninov, performed by pianist Olga Kern, winner of the 2001 Van Cliburn Competition.
