Introduced by Petroc Trelawny, from the Royal Albert Hall, London. The BBC Philharmonic and its Conductor Laureate present a programme that includes the first public performance of Arnold Bax's In memoriam Patrick Pearse, a work written in memory of one of the leaders of the Irish Easter Rising of 1916, and only recently found to have been orchestrated. The orchestra is later joined by Yevgeny Sudbin who makes his BBC Proms debut in Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 1.
