Investigating the art of conducting and showcasing the work of two of the greatest living conductors, both appearing at this year's Proms - Pierre Boulez and Daniel Barenboim. Boulez conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra in Janacek's popular Sinfonietta and Daniel Barenboim and his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra - formed of young Israeli and Palestinian musicians - perform Brahms's Fourth Symphony. Especially recorded for this programme is an exclusive, in-depth conversation between Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez who talk about their views on conducting. Presenter Suzy Klein is joined by Clive Anderson, fresh from his first appearance hosting BBC TWO's new all-star conducting series 'Maestro' earlier in the week, as well as the young English conductor Alexander Shelley and the first famous amateur to be voted out of the 'Maestro' series.
