Novak Djokovic is the defending champion in Melbourne after beating surprise package Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in last year's final. But despite the breakthrough of claiming his first Grand Slam title, the Serb still has not managed to overthrow top two Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the world rankings. Federer has won three of the last five men's finals in Melbourne and will have been determined to start the year in winning fashion by reaching yet another Grand Slam final. Andy Murray thrilled British fans by reaching this stage at the previous Grand Slam event - the US Open in September. The Scot's form since then has been, if anything, even better and were he to reach another final, few would back against him becoming the first British male to win a Grand Slam singles title for 73 years.
