Drama about a Palestinian family which ekes out a precarious living by making charcoal at an abandoned army outpost in the middle of nowhere. A scandal involving eldest daughter Gamila means the family has been living in isolation both from the Israelis and from the Palestinian community for ten years. When authoritarian father Abu Shukri's decides to illegally divert a water pipe to the arid settlement against the family's wishes, he comes up against more resistance than he had expected.
