An Island Parish

A special one-hour programme charting the mid-Atlantic drama of four island men who nearly drowned after their epic attempt to row from New York back home to the Isles of Scilly in Cornwall went horribly wrong. Using in-depth interviews and dramatic reconstruction, the programme tells the story of the extraordinary eight hours the men spent trying to survive in the icy waters of a North Atlantic storm after their little rowing boat capsized. The four give their own highly personal accounts of facing death in the longest night of their lives, alongside those of their families who waited for news, and the coastguard teams racing the clock to try to rescue them.
