If a patient can't be treated within the first sixty minutes of their accident, their chances of survival will plummet. But often hurdles get in the way of the doctors and paramedics, dramatically slowing down the time it takes to get to a patient. Lee is a rear seat passenger in a car which has been in a fast head on crash on the A1. He's lost sensation from the chest down and Dr Simon le Clerc needs to get to him fast - but first he has to wait patiently for the fire crews to safely extract Lee from the car. In Cumbria, Alan has suffered a possible heart attack and Dr Suzie needs to get to him immediately. But Alan is halfway up a mountain, where the helicopter is struggling to land.
