Presented by Ian Skelly. BBC Proms 2009: The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, bringing together young Arab and Israeli musicians in what conductor Daniel Barenboim calls 'an orchestra against ignorance', celebrates its tenth birthday with a two-day Proms residency. The ensemble was founded in Weimar, taking its name from a poetry collection by Goethe, and this concert revisits those roots with music by Liszt, Wagner and Berlioz.
