With his chair firmly clicked back into the recline position Fun Lovin' Criminal Huey Morgan brings his individual New York style to BBC Radio 2. He talks to indie guitar icon J Mascis, the remote frontman of influential garage rock trio Dinosaur Jr who emerged in the early 80s and whose sound including the use of feedback, distortion and extreme volume went on to influence indie grunge bands from the Pixies to Nirvana. Since forming Dinosaur Jr in 1984, J Mascis has recorded with six bands and collectives and 2011 sees the release of his debut solo album 'Several Shades of Why' exploring his more acoustic, stripped back style. Normally interview shy, Huey chats to the shy Neil Young sound-a-like about his new material, his musical upbringing in Massachusetts and having a special Fender Jazzmaster guitar custom designed in his honour. Huey also has a 'New York Minute' with DJ Uncle Mike, his former A&R man and best friend in the Big Apple, reminiscing about a classic musical moment and he asks a listener to choose a track they'd like to hear on vinyl on the radio, digging in the BBC archives to indulge their 'Vinyl Fetish'. All held together by Huey's usual selection of unusual tunes - from latin to soul, hip hop, rap, rock, punk and reggae, coupled with Huey's tales, anecdotes and musings.
