6 Music Classic Concert - Garbage

Garbage feature on this week's Classic Concert, presented by Chris Hawkins. The gig was recorded by the BBC at Leeds Metropolitan University on the 9th of April 1996, and includes the classics Queer, Stupid Girl and Only Happy When It Rains. Garbage were a superbly refreshing and intelligent interpretation of nineties musical styles. Strange samples and loops underpin songs of intensity, obsession and vengeance which, with the help of vocalist Shirley Manson's quietly psychotic, sexy and understated delivery, create a heady mixture of power-pop.
