Uncle Max - Plays Golf

Comedy series about the adventures of nine-year-old Luke and his larger-than-life (and twice as accident prone) Uncle Max. The pair's zany adventures appeal to adults and children and cross language barriers, as the show is dialogue-free. Creator David Schneider stars as Uncle Max, a character who extends the tradition of screen comedy invented by great visual gag artists like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, and continued by the likes of Jacques Tati and Rowan Atkinson. Schneider is a master of physical comedy, with rubbery features which were made for clowning. Like his illustrious predecessors, Uncle Max has a striking appearance, with distinctive peg trousers, loud shirt and spiky haircut. Each episode starts with Uncle Max pulling up outside Luke's house on his tandem and honking his horn, which produces a different sound each time. Uncle Max and Luke triumph in a game of golf against a super-smug father and son. On the way, Max proves that the joy of golf lies not so much in hitting the ball as digging a six-foot hole around it while trying; that one man's bunker is another man's beach; that golf bags make the perfect skateboard as long as you're being dragged along by a speeding golf cart; and that the rules of golf are at best ambiguous on what happens if a ball is swallowed by a pig.
