Switzerland take on the Czech Republic in Basel, while Portugal face Turkey in Geneva. Portugal have genuine aspirations of becoming European champions. Finalists four years ago in their own country, they went on to reach the last four at the World Cup and in Cristiano Ronaldo boast arguably the outstanding player in Europe this season. They also have a coach with an outstanding pedigree, Luiz Felipe Scolari, a World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002. Turkey start as underdogs but have qualified for three of the last four European Championships and reached the quarter-finals in 2000 when they lost out to Portugal.
