Bob Harris looks at the 'Anti-heroes' of pop during their time in exile in France. How they set up their own label and survived the excesses of the 70's and emerged at the end of the 70s as heads of a global entertainment franchise. Despite being exiled and going through something of a creative lull they still made 'Exile on Main Street'. The 70s would turn the band into a more commerical entity as Mick Jagger took more control of the group and Keith Richards descended into a drug fueled abyss. Mick Taylor also decides to leave the band after realising being a member of the Stones wasn't really for him. The band release Some Girls which was to be their most commercially succesful album.
