Purcell wrote sacred music throughout his creative life and left a fantastic body of "verse anthems" for strings and voices, several of which were featured in a concert given by the Gabrieli Consort, directed by Paul McCreesh, at the 2008 Brinkburn Festival. Performed in the wonderful acoustic of Brinkburn Priory the concert features Purcell's popular "O Sing Unto the Lord" and "Rejoice in the Lord Alway".
