Ten shy children who love to sing but are terrified of performing in public are put through their paces by choirmaster extraordinaire Gareth Malone. Having already worked his magic on a tone-deaf town, reluctant schoolboys and wayward teenagers, Gareth attempts to build the youngsters' fragile confidence and turn them into singing stars capable of performing in front of a massive crowd - 40,000 people at London's Proms in the Park. The Big Performance tour bus heads back to London, and there is only one week to go until the ten singers perform live on stage in front of 40,000 people. There is a lot of work to be done before they will be ready for the performance of their lives. With an 80-piece orchestra accompanying them on the big day, Gareth ditches his keyboard for the real thing, but the distraction proves too much for some. Time is running out and they are nowhere near the polished performers that they need to be, so when celebrity choreographer Kevin Adams comes to join the group, he tries to get them moving in the right direction. Luckily they have a whole week to practice their routine, but their singing needs to be up to scratch too - and fast, as Gareth is about to set them their biggest performance challenge ever - singing live on the Chris Evans radio show to 8 million listeners. But before they can take to the airwaves, Gareth has a very big decision to make. It's the news they have all been waiting for - who will be the Big Performance soloist?
