Eddie innocently asks where Ruth is going tomorrow. David doesn't want to discuss Ruth's appointment so Eddie assumes it's 'women's troubles' and tells David how nervous Clarrie is about meeting Nic. Bert wants to get more practice in and goes off in the Massey to plough some of Tony's grassland. But the Massey packs up and David rushes to assist a very despondent Bert. They manage to get the tractor back to Brookfield but Bert can't see how it could possibly be fixed in time for the Netherbourne and district ploughing contest. Roy's frustrated at rising house prices and doesn't think he and Hayley will find one in the village. Lynda tells Roy about Scarlett. She finds her quite distasteful and is annoyed that Robert helped her to find accommodation. Lynda and Robert lament the departure of their favourable guest, Professor Rankin. They get the beds ready for any new arrivals but Lynda is met with a frightful sight when she sees a boa constrictor under the duvet. Lynda is frozen with fright but Robert sees the funny side: Professor Rankin, allegedly an expert on reptile behaviour, spendt three days looking for the thing and it turns up in his bed! Episode written by Caroline Harrington.
