Russell Davies - 24/10/2010

Logo for Russell Davies - 24/10/2010

This week Russell celebrates the 80th anniversary of an influential Gershwin show with no less than five songs from the score - Bidin' My Time, But Not For Me, Embraceable You, Boy! What Love Has Done To Me and I Got Rhythm - and a further three songs that use the chord structure of I Got Rhythm. Our search for the nation's favourite duet performance continues and Russell rolls out a further trio of classics - Dinah Washington and Brook Benton's Baby (You've Got What It Takes), Gone Fishin' by Bing Crosby & Louis Armstrong and I Remember It Well by Maurice Chevalier and Hermione Gingold. The subject of memory in song winds up the hour with two more old favourites - Kern & Hammerstein's Can I Forget you, sung by Jean Sablon, and Flanagan & Allen's Down Forget-Me-Not Lane.
