Ambulances are a Scottish 6 piece distinguished by their stark, delicate pop melodies and bittersweet boy girl harmonies. Formed in Fife three years ago, Ambulances consist of Sara Colston (vocals), Al Fraser (drums), Graham Jack (Vocals, guitar), Scott Lyon (Vocals, guitar), Chris Miezitis(Vocals, guitar) and Stephen Oswald (bass). They got together to write and record demos over a two year period for what would become the basis of their debut album, 'The Future That Was'.Having fully embraced the DIY ethos the band scraped together just enough cash to buy the necessary recording equipment. And so, in the summer of 2008, they flew legendary producer Kramer (Galaxie 500, Daniel Johnston, Jeffrey Lewis, Low), laptop and teapot in tow, in from the States to spend 8 intense days in a rented cottage in the heart of the Fife countryside, recording what he would later hail as "a psychedelic masterpiece". Despite the mammoth effort leaving the six piece bereft of cash, with addled and confused minds due to a combination of sleep deprivation and an addiction to Chinese organic tea, the outstanding result inspired them to start their own label, 'Nee Naw Records' from whence the debut has been released. The release of the album has led to remixes by Steve Mason (ex Beta Band) and a support slot with Damo Suzuki in London. Also, being Tuesday we proudly present Rob Cowboy Hughes and his Americana Slot, a pair of chaps and 2 Americana records, genius!
