Excitement all round as Marc is joined by Everything Everything and guest curator poet Simon Armitage. Simon will be choosing the archive sessions and playing some of his favourite tunes. Plus Rob Hughes pop's in to give us the lowdown on some of that their Americana .. Returning for their 4th session are Everything Everything, the band who musically fuse "three part harmonies with scalding post-punk guitars; floor-filling bass lines with syncopated rhythms" (we couldn't put it better ourselves so we didn't try) and lyrically range from Naomi Klein to Edward Lear. They're not really from Manchester but as they made their debut in the city in 2007 it's happy to claim them. If you know the singles 'Suffragette Suffragette', 'Photoshop Handsome' and My Keys Your Boyfriend' (aka MY KZ, UR BF) (and if you're a regular listener you will) you'll be happy to hear that their debut album "Man Alive" is finally out on Geffen Records at the end of August., Yorkshire born Simon is one of Britain's leading poets.. He's published nine volumes of poetry and received numerous awards including the Sunday Times Author of the Year, one of the first Forward Prizes and a Lannan Award. He also writes for radio, television and film, and is the author of four stage plays and two novels. He also has an Ivor Novello Award for his song-lyrics in the Channel 4 film Feltham Sings, which also won a BAFTA. Until 1994 though he had a proper job as a Probation Officer in Greater Manchester.
