Long Way Round - Episode 3

Documentary showing the preparation and planning of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's famous motorbike journey. Ewan and Charley travel through Europe, heading for the border into Slovakia. At the border they are warned by a local about 'grossa mafia' in Ukraine, and are kept waiting to cross into Slovakia for 12 hours. The next day they race to Kiev, desperate to keep their 3pm appointment with UNICEF. Once in Kiev, Ewan and Charley visit UNICEF's project with the children of Chernobyl. Despite an unfortunate incident at a petrol station, in which Ewan finds himself hosed with petrol, the boys meet some 'well-dressed' mafia men in a small town, and are persuaded to stay overnight. The next day, the guys are taken to visit a coal mine. Back above ground Ewan is itching to get on the road again. A short hop into Russia and they are on board a ferry heading for Kazakhstan and starting phase two of the journey.
