Iraq 2003-2009

Earlier this year, British troops completed their withdrawal from Basra and left Iraq after a controversial war that lasted six years, during which 179 service personnel lost their lives. The Queen leads a service of commemoration at St Paul's Cathedral in London to mark the end of the war and honour the sacrifice of the young men and women who died.
