Sean Rafferty presents a selection of music and guests from the arts world, including Ben Heppner, regarded by many as one of the world's finest dramatic tenors. Heppner talks about his role in Wagner's Ring Cycle with the Berlin Philharmonic and Simon Rattle at the Aix-en-Provence Festival which concludes in 2009. His forthcoming recital at the Barbican Centre, London, includes works by Strauss, Schubert, Britten and Duparc. Plus soprano Katherine Manley and baritone Dawid Kimberg, with Christian Curnyn on harpsichord performing in the studio. Together, they make up Transition Company, which combines music and opera performance with new media, video and film. Their next project is John Blow's masque Venus and Adonis, often described as the earliest-surviving English opera. 17:03 CLARKE The Prince of Denmark’s March Wynton Marsalis (trumpet) English Chamber Orchestra Anthony Newman (conductor) SONY CLASSICAL SK 66244 T.2 2’48 17:06 BORODIN Prince Igor (Polovtsian March) Kirov Orchestra Valery Gergiev (conductor) PHILIPS 442 011 2 Track 5 5’25 1712 STRAUSS Vier Lieder, Op. 27, Nos. 2-3 Ben Heppner (tenor) Craig Rutenberg (piano) RCA 09026631042 Tracks 3-4 5’17 17:25 BEETHOVEN Adelaide, op.46 Ben Heppner (tenor) Craig Rutenberg, piano RCA 09026631042 Track 1 5’51 17:35 WAGNER Brunnhilde, heilige Braut!
