Frontiers - Lunar Transient Phenomena

Logo for Frontiers - Lunar Transient Phenomena

Andrew Luck-Baker investigates the mystery of fleeting patches of bright light over areas on the Moon. A new project is deploying robotic telescopes to try and establish the truth about these lunar transient phenomena, or TLPs, with some believing them to be gas eruptions from lunar volcanoes or escaping via fractures made when the Moon was struck by an asteriod millions of years ago. Some even speculate that the gases could be useful to astronauts who may colonise the Moon in years to come.
