The first zone will be from Flamborough Head to Felixstowe, and The Marine Management Organisation tells Farming Today the North Sea fishing industry should benefit. Worcestershire Wildlife Trust are concerned government money is being wasted on farming wildlife schemes. Agri-environment schemes avoided the recent government cuts, but Farming Today hears there is little evidence the schemes are working as they should, to increase bio-diversity. A sharp rise in feed and straw costs is forcing farmers to sell their cattle before the winter. A trip to Dartmoor National Park reveals the cost of bedding and feed is proving too much, and many farmers are selling their stock.
