There are nearly a million properties lying empty in the UK just waiting for someone to come along to make them homes again. Jules Hudson reveals the great potential vacant places for sale can offer buyers in terms of budget and lifestyle, while the work of the nation's Empty Property Officers explores what's being done to get the thousands of houses that lie abandoned and neglected across the country back into use. And we hear from the people who've rescued wrecks and transformed them into beautiful homes again. Cathy and David Simpson have been living in their Victorian flat in South East London for the last three years. Since the arrival of little Cameron, it's just not big enough. They would love a place for the family to grow into and think it's now time for them to leave the city behind. They have 450 thousand pounds to spend and are looking for a rural idyll in Kent with four bedrooms and enough garden to grow vegetables. Presenter Jules Hudson shows them how an empty property could be not only be tailored to their lifestyle, but within budget too.
