André Previn (aka Andrew Preview) was born on 6th April 1929 in Berlin and emigrated with his family to the United States in 1939. One of the most distinguished musicians of our time, his collection of awards include Grammys, Oscars (four in total for film scores including My Fair Lady and Gigi), the Austrian and German Cross of Merit, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the LSO and a British Knighthood. His 80th birthday will be celebrated with a season of concerts at Carnegie Hall, featuring some of his compositions, and for which he will also conduct and perform as a soloist. Including contributions from Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine, Denis Wick, John Ammonds, David Finck, Richard Sherman and Sir Tom Stoppard.
