Electronic music expert and Wall of Sound label boss Mark Jones host the fourth in his series of shows exploring the origins of synth pop. This week, Mark is joined by electro pioneer Gary Numan to talk about his career and upcoming tour. Numan first came to prominence in 1979 with his chart topping hit 'Are Friends Electric', becoming the poster boy for synthesised music with his albums 'Replicas' and 'The Pleasure Principle.' 30 years after that album was released, Gary tells Mark why it was such a career defining moment for him, why he thinks 'Cars' - its standout moment - made such an impact and how he feels about this month's reissue of the LP, three decades on. Gary plays music that inspired him throughout his career from David Bowie, Ultravox and Nine Inch Nails. There's also another synth meets soul explosion in 'Mark's Mutant Mash Up' and tunes from Visage, Tiga, Japan and Furniture.
