6 Mix explores 2010's most talked-about music genre, Chillwave, featuring mixes from Neon Indian and Wild Nothing. With its analogue aesthetic referencing shoegazing and synth pop, Chillwave set the blogs on fire when the term was first coined in the US at the end of 2009. In this programme, Neon Indian and Wild Nothing - both bands who have been associated with chillwave - discuss the movement and if they feel being part of such a talked about genre has helped, or hindered, their career. They also discuss the sonics associated with chillwave, from the woozy analogue synths of Neon Indian's 'Psychic Chasms' LP to the dream-pop of Wild Nothing's 'Gemini LP' evoking early Cure, and why lo-fi is the new hi-fi. Both bands also play music which has influenced and inspired their sound including Ariel Pink, My Bloody Valentine and Yellow Magic Orchestra.
